.drop column

Remove a column from the table catalog. Requires account administrator permission and account-management capability. Existing files are not rewritten. Future ingestion may infer and add the column again.

Spec

.drop column '<table_name>'.'<column_name>'

Parameters

• table_name: Existing table in the current account, quoted as a string literal.
• column_name: Existing column, quoted as a string literal. The timestamp column and reserved __INFLOW_ columns cannot be dropped.

Return Value

No records. An execution message reports the removed column. Other columns, retention settings, and existing data files are preserved.
